isa – independent shipping agencies, Hamburg Moves 6 Breakbulk Pieces Total 260T To Qingdao on Mumbai Maersk

On 20.12.23 isa – independent shipping agencies GmbH performed a job of moving 2 x crates each about 18 tons (each about 16m x 244 x 310cm L x W x H), from Austria via Bremerhaven to Shanghai on RoRo Basis (2 x 60” Roll Mafis).

The first crate needed to leave the factory in a hurry in week 50 and the customer forgot to put the marks on it in the rush, so isa arranged adding the markings at the terminal.

The 2nd crate was to be delivered in week 50 after crating in Austria, which was kind of close to vessel departure, with heavy snow fall leading to some further delay in pre-carriage.

Finally, everything turned out well and both crates are on the way to Shanghai, safely placed on 2 x 60” Roll Mafis.

We thank our customer for their trust in isa – independent shipping agencies.

isa – independent shipping agencies, Hamburg Moves Breakbulk Pieces ex Antwerp to Jebel Ali on Eugen Maersk

isa – independent shipping agencies GmbH performed a job of 2x Breakbulk pieces, along with 5x40FR OW/OH Antwerp to Jebel Ali on Eugen Maersk in last October 2023.

The complete module as seen in the picture, was dismantled to 2 equal parts of each: 1340 x 320 x 300cm (l x w x h) 18,7ts.

Loaded on Flats athwart ship and items were lashed by eight new steel link lashing chains (13mm caliber – BS 20,000 dan), used mainly sideways.

Four steel chains were applied to the bottom of the four corners of the modules and four were applied to the top corner casting to the lashing eyes of the flats.

All went smoothly and on time, and the cargo is now on the way to its destination.

We thank our customer for their trust in isa – independent shipping agencies GmbH.

isa – independent shipping agencies, Hamburg Moves 1st of Several Dump Trucks to Fremantle, Australia

On 09.08, isa – independent shipping agencies GmbH will ship the first of a couple of dump trucks, to Fremantle, Australia.

The first dump truck was delivered to the packing station last week. As RoRo Carriers are fully booked, or way too expensive, we decided to load this truck on 1x40FR with an under-structure support brace.

This was the only way to stow the cargo on a Flat Rack, as the width of the cargo would have only allowed the tires to be halfway on the container floor. In case of any air loss from the tires, this would lead to unsafe lashing and lost balance with high risk of lost cargo.

The main challenge was to build the under-structure support in a way that it would be a) stable/safely secured b) would not damage the drive shaft or any other part of the undercarriage of the truck. As there were sufficient lashing points on the cargo, after a pre-check, it was decided that the cargo could be safely stowed and secured on the flat rack.

After final packing, the cargo was redelivered to the terminal and is now to be loaded to the vessel and then on its way to Fremantle, Australia.

The next dump truck is to follow shortly, so we thank our customer for their trust in us to perform this job.

isa – independent shipping agencies, Hamburg Moves 6 Breakbulk Pieces Total 260 Tons to Qingdao on Mumbai Maersk

On 22/23.07.24 isa – independent shipping agencies GmbH performed a job of 6x Breakbulk pieces (total: 260 tons), along with 8x40 OT and 3x40 HC from Rotterdam to Qingdao on MV Mumbai Maersk.

One part of the cargo was a gear wheel with a diameter of 617cm, which was very impressive to see on the truck, when delivered to the terminal.

All parts were crated by us in Rotterdam, while the gear wheel had special attention, as the lifting eyes were attached directly at the wheel and needed to be reachable after crating.

The lashing onboard took a lot of work, to secure the cargo in accordance with IMO requirements and the perils of the sea.

Here are some details, to get a better impression about the work done:

These 2 cases of ‘machinery’ were lashed/secured each onto the flatracks by means of steel chains (13mms); 8 chains taken from the indicated lashing lugs, crosswise and equally applied. Moreover, 2 chains were applied over the top of each case to lash the shipment downward.

3 cases ‘machinery’ were lashed onto the flatracks for rolling/pitching forces by means steel chains (13 mm), double-applied around the ends of the case in way of the solid bottom construction. Moreover, 2 chains were applied over the top of each case to lash the shipment downward.

The 617cm diameter case was lashed onto the flatracks for rolling/pitching forces by means of synthetic lashing straps (5,000 daN). Four straps were taken in longitudinal and 4 straps in athwart direction over the case in order to lash the shipment downward.

All went smoothly and well, and the cargo is now on the way to its destination.

We thank our customer for the trust in isa – independent shipping agencies and Maersk for the good job done.

Plow Machine – pre-stuffed on 1x40FR Bremerhaven - Sydney

isa – independent shipping agencies, Hamburg, Seal Express, Bucharest, and Comark, Ljubljana Join Forces to Arrange Urgent BB and OOG Cargo to Altamira

Seal Express, Romania (WCA Inter Global member) asked isa GmbH (GAA & WCAPN member) for assistance in handling an urgent OOG Lot (3x40FR ow/oh), one BB piece, 3x40HC and 1x20dc to Altamira, Mexico.

All cargo for the Flats and Boxes were picked up in advance ex-Romania and were brought for stuffing to the packing station slightly in advance.

The 64T Breakbulk piece was required from the producer to be picked up fast after the other cargo went out, but due to the slow road permit process from the official entities, in the end everything went very close, even to catch the required vessel.

Comark did their best to get all the required documents as quickly as possible, and the correct trucks, and finally all went well.

This time, a plus for us, there was a slight vessel delay, which gave us a little more time and the cargo was delivered in time and loaded together on the vessel.

For the Breakbulk, nearly 30 lashings were needed, while 10 of them were used as C-Lashing, guided by another 5, plus several at the fore and aft lashing points of the cargo.

isa GmbH, Hamburg is thankful for the trust brought from Sealexpress Logistics, Bucharest, and a big thanks to Comark, Ljubljana for providing a quick and reliable service.

isa – independent shipping agencies, Hamburg Sends Stone Crusher ex-Czech Republic to Australia, Under Difficult Circumstances

isa GmbH, Hamburg was asked to perform a short notice pickup and shipping of a stone crusher from the Czech Republic, via Hamburg, to Brisbane.

The information from the shipper in the beginning was lacking in sufficient detail - not even a correct weight was advised - so our quote was done on indication basis only. Finally, we received proper information allowing us to proceed with the full plan (so we thought!).

After a quick discussion with the shipper, the pickup date and time were fixed. Road permits were issued on an urgent basis, truck arrived, and then: the shipper advised us that one piece needs to be installed to the crusher, and also informed us that the cargo cannot be secured with lashings over the vehicle, and it cannot be handled by crane. First time at all we were informed about that, leaving us with some questions. How to finally get this job done?

The truck driver had to rest overnight and then headed towards the packing station in Hamburg, while isa GmbH Team was looking for a solution for the unexpected and short-notice information regarding the lashing and lifting restrictions.

The loading solution resulted in a rush job to build a “gap-bridge” overnight, supported by a forklift to allow the crusher remotely drive from the truck directly onto the flat without any lifting. Next, a suitable lashing concept was worked out with the lashing team and the decision was taken to mix lashings with chains and several belts, making sure that the cargo was safe on the flat, but not damaged by lashings.

The crusher, now securely on the flat is currently under fumigation and will leave this weekend.

A tricky job, with quite some headaches and new things to learn, but we are happy that in the end, all worked out fine.

isa – independent shipping agencies, Hamburg, Seal Express, Bucharest, and Comark, Ljubljana Join Forces to Arrange Urgent OOG Cargo to Altamira short before X-Mas

Seal Express, Romania (WCA Inter Global member) asked isa GmbH (GAA & WCAPN member) for assistance in handling an urgent OOG Lot and one BB piece to Altamira, Mexico, with pick up ex-Romania, packing in Bremerhaven, and shipping of 1 BB piece, 4x40FR OOG on pre-stuffed basis, plus supporting equipment in several Boxes to Altamira.

The cargo was very urgently required in Altamira, so the time frame was critical. The current shortage of truck drivers, due to upcoming x-mas, unsafe weather conditions, space, and equipment availability, added more pressure to this movement request.

isa Gmbh contacted the carriers and got a quick solution at an acceptable price, including necessary equipment. isa asked Comark if there was any luck for a quick transport solution in sight. With a kind of “lucky shot”, Comark was able to offer a good solution for pick up within two days, which was a nice surprise.

Seal Express constantly checked with the customer if that short time frame would be possible, as a mobile crane had to be ordered.

In the end, we were able to provide the transport solution for the customer within only 1 week from the customer’s initial request until cargo pick up, arranged the floating crane in Bremerhaven for the BB piece to be loaded on 2x40FR, arranged the stuffing/lashing/securing for the 40FR OOG and boxes and cargo departure to Altamira on 05.12.22

2 isa members supervised the loading process on board in the freezing cold (-10C), in order to secure highest quality till the end.

This case again proves that under the umbrella of the WCA, three different network members (GAA, WCA, WCA Projects) coordinated seamlessly in order to make this possible.

isa GmbH, Hamburg is thankful for the trust brought from Sealexpress Logistics, Bucharest, and a big thanks to Comark, Ljubljana for providing a quick and reliable service.

isa – independent shipping agencies, Hamburg, Seal Express, Bucharest, and Comark, Ljubljana Join Forces to Arrange Urgent OOG Cargo to Altamira

Seal Express, Romania (WCA Inter Global member) asked isa GmbH (GAA and WCA Projects member) for assistance in handling one urgent OOG piece to Altamira, Spain, with pick up ex-Romania, packing in Bremerhaven, and shipping on the pre-stuffed basis to Altamira.

The cargo was urgently required in Altamira, so the time frame was critical. The current shortage of truck drivers, space, and equipment availability added more pressure to this movement request.

isa Gmbh contacted the carriers and got a quick solution at an acceptable price, including the necessary equipment. After meeting together during a recent conference, isa asked Comark if there was any luck for a quick transport solution in sight. With a kind of “lucky shot”, Comark could offer a good solution for pick up within two days, which was a nice surprise.

Seal Express constantly checked with the customer if that short time frame would be possible, as a mobile crane had to be ordered.

In the end, we were able to provide the transport solution for the customer within only 3 days from the customer’s initial request until cargo pick up, and cargo will depart to Altamira for the receiver very soon.

This case is not about the cargo or big-size shipment but shows that under the umbrella of the WCAworld, three different network members (GAA, WCA Inter Global, and WCA Projects) coordinated seamlessly to make this possible.

This case clearly shows that for all WCAworld members who attend the conferences and meet with other members personally, there will be a day when you find the right partners in the right place at the right time.

isa GmbH, Hamburg is thankful for the trust brought from Sealexpress Logistics, Bucharest, and a big thanks to Comark, Ljubljanad for providing quick and reliable service.

isa – independent shipping agencies, Germany and Neolink, Australia Joined Forces to Arrange Big Airfreight to Australia

Week 34 / 2022 isa GmbH arranged 2 crates with over 10m length, via air freight to Melbourne, Australia. Cargo was loaded into a 747 cargo noseloader.

Neolink, Australia (WCA Member) asked isa GmbH (WCA Project and GAA Member) for assistance in handling 3 crates, while 2 crates were over 10m length, that were already overdue and urgently required in Australia, ex-Poland.

Everything went fine and there had been several calls with Neolink, coordinating the work in Australia with isa coordinating with the shipper from Poland, the airline, the trucker, and the packing company. However, just one day prior pick up, all dimensions were changed by the packing company – and not a small change - it nearly doubled in size.

All initial planning was void, while the consignee was putting even more pressure on the project, as the parts were needed urgently.

This obviously caused a big rush, with all new calculations, flight data, pre-carriages, etc. to be completed in a time frame of under one week.

Neolink kept the consignee informed regularly, upon the information given by isa GmbH.

In the end, after the complete re-planning, everything went according to plan; cargo was picked up on time, delivered to the airline on time and departed as scheduled. The teamwork, including the management teams from Neolink and isa GmbH, worked well together and customer was happy.

isa GmbH, Hamburg is very happy to have performed this loading as smooth as it was possible under the given circumstances and we wish Neolink all the best for the arrival of the cargo and big thanks for the trust given.

isa – independent shipping agencies, Germany and Mileage, India (GAA) Join Forces to Ship 2 x 49 Ton Pelton Runners to Mumbai

August 4th isa GmbH shipped 2 x 48.6ts Pelton Runners from Hamburg to Mumbai. Cargo was loaded as Breakbulk on M/V Lila Mumbai (BBK Vessel).

Mssr Mileage, India (GAA Member) asked isa GmbH (WCA Project and GAA Member) for assistance in handling 2 Peleton Runners to Mumbai.

Normally, the plan was to load the cargo on two simple flats, but due to the special safety construction for this sensitive cargo, the shipper informed isa GmbH in last moment, that the cargo was 4 tons heavier than initially advised. Due to the changed specs, all initial planning was void and a new loading option had to be worked out. Finally, the joint decision was taken to load the cargo as Breakbulk.

The given time frame was a little unlucky, as the truckers would have needed more time in advance to arrange all the road permits, and to add to the challenge, on short notice, the vessel was advised to be at POL even two days earlier than expected while trucks were planned as per initial schedule.

Overall, it was a very difficult operation, with many unforeseen issues, but in the end, we managed to work everything out in time for loading.

isa – independent shipping agencies, Germany ships 48ts Boiler to Singapore-Batam

July 11th, isa Gmbh shipped a 48ts Boiler from Bremerhaven to Singapore-Batam. Cargo was loaded as Breakbulk on a Container vessel.

The boiler rested on a steel foundation welded to the boiler. Anti-sliding mats were used between the timber sections and the foundations of the unit. The unit was secured through 16 web lashings and fitted to the unit in suitable locations.

As requested by the vessel's Chief Officer, four additional web lashings were fitted to the steel foundation of the unit. isa GmbH, Hamburg is very happy to have performed this loading smoothly due to good preplanning with all parties involved.

isa – independent shipping agencies, Germany Ships Sooth Blower System from Hamburg, Germany to Port Klang, Malaysia

isa – independent shipping agencies GmbH received the nomination for a complete sooth blower system to Port Klang in week 41. Coverage: Breakbluk loading on 5x40Flat Racks, with gaps in between, covering 7 Slots in total, athwart ship., plus 1x20dc with accessories. The pre-carriage was also a part of the nomination.

The circumstances were rather challenging, as the vessel delayed the arrival three times and the production site needed to get the cargo off their site, as they needed the storage space, plus isa always tries not to run the risk of storage at the terminal. Pick up dates were changed several times and duly communicated with the production site and the truckers.

The units were loaded by means of container gantry bridge (SWL 82 mt) in connection with a frame traverse (SWL 93 mt). Always 4 lifting chains (SWL 10 mt each) attached to the frame traverse were slung around the units’ foundation at the designated lifting areas. Anti-sliding / rubber pads were placed underneath the wooden cases in order to ensure a sufficient coefficient of friction (μ = 0.6).

isa GmbH, Hamburg is very happy to have performed the project for our customer and fulfilled their requirements completely and on time.

In March 2020, isa Gmbh, shipped 1 historic race car and 1 historic motorbike. The car is one of 2 ever built Maurer F2 from 1960, but the only car, that has ever won significant races and respective medals.

Biggest challenge was customs, documents and official formalities, as it was sold from one private person to another and a proper pre-transport and proper stuffing. Total time to get all on track with both private parties took nearly 2 months of pre-planning. The security and safety for this high value cargo, where on a very high level and we've monitored the quality of packing all the time. isa – independent shipping agencies, Germany, Ships for Power Plant Project in Oman

From the end November, all of December 2019, and nearly entire month of January 2020, isa Gmbh, shipped a complete power plant for Oman. The job required full service: road transport, packing, crating, special transports, shipping per container liner carrier, RoRo carrier and breakbulk carrier, which had to be coordinated and in accordance to the required arrival date at destination.

Besides several boxes, special equipment, like open tops and flat racks, the scope of work included 1 Generator of 69 Tons, several special transports in respect of width and height, and 1 Turbine at 98 Tons, which is the heaviest single unit of cargo that isa GmbH has moved till now.

Special challenge was that the shipper constantly changed the dimensions, readiness dates of cargo on (very) short term. During pre-Christmas time, it was very hard to cope with all that changes in respect of truckers, road permits, packing stations and carriers. Even with such last-minute changes, our project team managed to get everything properly arranged for successful on-time shipment.

isa GmbH, Hamburg is very happy to have served the customer well and performed the job as required, even under the given circumstances.
